About Vanessa

vanessa wilson crafty gemini creates family

My goal in life: To learn as much as I can about as much as I can…. and then pass that knowledge to my kiddos.

In August 2011, my husband and I purchased a 5-acre property in Florida, so we could raise & homeschool/unschool our children and live a more simple and natural way of life.   We are city folk learning to live off our land with hopes of one day being able to grow all (or most) of our own food.  I gave up my job as a law professor to make a living doing what I love and I couldn’t be happier! I try my hand at all kinds of DIY projects and enjoy teaching viewers how to make functional projects no matter their skill level. I’m thankful for the opportunity to spread my crafty love and knowledge with people everywhere!

In November 2014, I had an awesome opportunity to appear as a guest teacher with Jenny Doan on her channel, where I taught her how to make my quilt-as-you-go Improv Tote.  The tutorial was a huge hit! Hundreds of positive comments and emails later it led to a new relationship with MSQC. We are taking this collaboration to the next level with my new channel, Crafty Gemini Creates!  I’m excited to be a part of the MSQC team and to have this channel powered by the Missouri Star Quilt Company.

Your method of teaching is so great. I can have my granddaughter join me in viewing your video and then go purchase the supplies to spend the day making your projects. Thank you for passing on to the next generation the love for sewing……Have a great day! Linnell Kunavich

Curious…what’s more demanding…your law professor job or running your crafting biz? I know which one is more fun. Thanks for the great tutorials.
